Cambois Creates survey winners are announced…

Five lucky people won a £50 Asda voucher for completing the survey we ran with The Tute asking for people’s views on “Heritage, arts and culture in Cambois, North Blyth and East Sleekburn”.

The winners were:

  • Laura Campbell

  • Dianne Foggo

  • Kathleen Gresty

  • Deborah Murdoch

  • Nicky Perks

The photos above show Kathleen, Laura, Nicky (and her son Harry) being given their voucher by Alex Oates from The Tute.

The purpose of the survey was to establish what the residents of Cambois, North Blyth and East Sleekburn wanted to see from the Cambois Creates project. The full report of the survey can be found by clicking this link.

A consistent theme running through the responses suggest that activities related to history and heritage are important to the Cambois, North Blyth and East Sleekburn residents.  To a lesser extent, but still significant, so are musical activities.  In terms of cultural activities, residents are clearly interested in participating in cinema, theatre, music and visiting museums; and currently have to travel outside the area to access these.

We asked people if they had skills that they would be prepared to share to make something happen. We weren’t surprised by the range of skills that could be available, but we were surprised how many people were willing to share these skills. We really shouldn’t have been though, because another very strong message from the survey was that that the community wanted the area to be seen by others as welcoming and friendly.

We will be taking all these suggestions and seeing how they can help to build the next phase of the Cambois project.

Thank you to everyone who completed the survey and we hope the winners buy themselves a little treat with their vouchers.
